A friend of mine said "Healing is beautiful, but the grief is real," and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Culturally, we try to avoid grief, but we have to go through it -- through every hideous step, confrontation and ugly cry -- to get the peace at the end. Are we whole again at the end? No, nothing can make us pristine again. But patches and repairs can make us stronger.
