Roses are a symbol of beauty, but they are also a source of pain. The Beast's cursed rose. The bramble that blinded the prince in Rapunzel. The bramble that consumed the kingdom in Sleeping Beauty. It's with these stories in mind that I made these rose boxes featuring molded flowers and hand-scuplted vines and leaves. I've been a bit obsessed with this dichotomy-- beauty and pain, blessing and curse. Is there another symbol in fairytales more bittersweet than the rose?
